CAMERICH Unveils “X System Workshop” Concept Exhibition in 2025
In 2025, CAMERICH presented the X System Workshop Concept Exhibition, offering a comprehensive look into how research, design, and manufacturing come together as a unified ecosystem. The exhibition highlights the complete development journey of the X System — from early concept and material exploration to prototyping and final production.
Earlier in the year, CAMERICH completed Phase I of its Jiaxing Mega Factory, forming a strategic production network alongside its Beijing R&D Campus. This North–South layout strengthens collaboration between designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams, enabling faster innovation and more efficient product development.
The X System was created in collaboration with Mario Tsai Studio, reflecting a shared vision of modular design and industrial innovation. The exhibition documents the system’s evolution through sketches, raw materials, structural components, and interactive displays, allowing visitors to experience the full creative and manufacturing process.
A major highlight was the premiere of the “X System Workshop” documentary, produced by Xinqiao Films. The film captures the system’s development across multiple cities, each representing a different stage of production — from conceptual research to component fabrication, structural engineering, and final assembly.
Designed with modularity in mind, the X System uses standardized aluminum profiles, joints, and panels that can be assembled into various configurations. This approach simplifies production, improves compatibility between design and manufacturing, and supports sustainable practices such as material reuse after the exhibition.
Visitors were also invited to participate in hands-on assembly activities and explore the Workshop Manual, a publication that shares insights from designers, manufacturers, and industry partners. Together, the exhibition, documentary, and manual present CAMERICH’s vision of innovation as an interconnected ecosystem built on collaboration, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking design.
